Redheaded Bliss

I know I don't say it enough on my blog but I think it nearly everyday;
Sheila O'Malley GETS IT.
I told her that today, too.
I LOVE visiting her blog because it makes my brain happy. Her passion for life, literature, cinema, well...basically EVERYTHING is contagious.

I've become dispassionate about things I use to adore. Like movies from the 30s and 40s.
I have seen every single movie Ginger Rogers ever made, including the many films sans Astaire.
I wrote a 36 page research paper on the making of Gone With the Wind in highschool.
I was obsessed with movies that starred Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier either together or seperately.

I had forgotten about those obsessions until Sheila started posting her "Stark Raving Mad Obsessions" especially the ones about Cary Grant.

And Sheila reads...oh my God does this woman READ!
Not only does she read but then she can bang out HUGE HUGE HUGE critiques that leave my headspinning just from the complete detailed accuracy.

Also, she acts, she writes, she discovered plutonium, she can tap-dance, twirl a baton and touch her nose with the tip of her tongue...all at the same time!

Truth be told, I'm disgustingly jealous of her.
But I'll read her several times a day anyway!

Ah yes, I will never forget the afternoon I discovered plutonium. I had just finished watching North by Northwest for the 5th time, and was tap-dancing around in my backyard, when I tripped over a huge stash of the stuff.

Thanks for this ... it made me laugh.

Say - have you broken open Penny Serenade yet? You've got to!!

And I absolutely love that you wrote a 36 page paper on Gone with the Wind. You are definitely a kindred spirit.

I have yet to bust out Penny Serenade. However, that is on my to-do list for this week!

Vivien Leigh is a goddess who shall forever remain on a pedestal in my heart (only slightly lower and a bit behind Audrey Hepburn).

Oh my! I knew you rocked, J, but I had NO clue how much until right now!
I see Vivien Leigh every single day as she languishes on my bedroom wall, wondering why I haven't dusted since God was a small child.

So I am assuming, then, that you have seen Monkey Business?? This would be where our two obsessions (Ginger Rogers and Cary Grant) meet ... I think they made another movie together, too, although the name escapes me. Something about a honeymoon?

You've got your chocolate in my peanut butter..
No! You've got your peanut butter in my chocolate!!

Two great obsessions that go great together!
It's Once Upon a Honeymoon and yes I've seen both, although it's been a long time...a very long time.
I think I need to see them again!

My obsession met another of your obsessions once in a movie called Stage Door.
Ginger Rogers and Katherine Hepburn played struggling actresses living in a boarding house.
It's one of my all-faves! It's like playing "spot the stars" in this one with a very young, blonde Lucille Ball, Eve Arden, Ann Miller and a host of others. Great film!

Oh and I have to mention that I absolutely adored Cary Grant in Arsenic and Old Lace. After watching that movie, I chose to play one of the old aunts in that play in highschool.
I had a cast on my foot at the time so hobbling around like a little old lady came naturally! ;)

I LOVE Stage Door.

And while I've seen Monkey Business (which combines two of my obsessions: Marilyn Monroe and CG) I haven't seen Once Upon a Honeymoon ... I will have to check it out.

Arsenic and Old Lace makes me howl with laughter.

"Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops."
