Sheila.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I love Sheila 24/7 but she's got an obsession at the moment and she's infected us all with this obsession.
Seriously, she has created a bunch of swooning monsters and most of us can't wait to rush over to her blog to see what's going on with Sheila O'Malley and Ben Marley.
My Dogs. Yes, I also love them 24/7 but with this beautiful weather we're having lately, we can really get out and do things.
Sunday, a friend and I took our dogs to Galveston.
She has a little girly dog named Chloe and I took Dashiell. Piper stayed home, she's just not into the whole going out/meeting people thing.
It was really windy but the sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky.
We stopped at a few antiques stores that were open. So many were destroyed in the hurricane that the few remaining are quite precious to us.
We drove down to The Strand and had lunch and marveled at the remnants of Mardi Gras...beads hanging from tree limbs, shattered beer bottles on the sidewalks. I guess post-hurricane clean up is taking precedence over post-Mardi Gras clean up.
It didn't matter to us. The Strand was coming alive!
We grabbed the dogs and walked up and down the streets, looking into the windows of the art galleries and shops. We stopped for coffee at Starbucks at sat outside watching the loading and unloading of the giant Carnival cruise ships.
Our dogs are certainly conversation starters and many people wanted to stop and pet them and talk.
One lady in particular stopped and talked to us for a while. She gave Dash and Chloe some love and explained that her brother is visiting from Korea so she was showing him around Galveston. About that time, he came out of Starbucks with a GIANT profession type camera and started shooting pics of Dashiell. My dog is so funny. He had been running at the end of his leash all day and when we finally stopped, he collapsed so he was sprawled out on the ground at my feet which made for a perfect photo op.
I told my friend after Korea man left that our dogs were going to be international celebrities when he returns to his home country!
We knew it was time to leave when a woman walked up wearing the most disgusting thing. It was some type of shawl or wrap made out of animal fur. It looked like several different types of animals gave their lives for her ugly garment and there were fur tassels hanging off of it.
Dash eyed those hanging tassels made out of some exotic animal and all he could think about was getting his paws on it and killing it again!
He had eyes for no one but that woman and her pelt. It was time to go.
Dash had the time of his life, though. I call him Fast Forward because he's always going at top speed. Thank goodness I have a Flexi leash because it has a brake and I get plenty of use out of it!
He ran at full speed everywhere we went and he was the star of the show on The Strand. I can't believe I haven't done this more often.
We'll have to make this a regular occasion until it gets too hot.
When summer comes around here, no one goes anywhere.
Swooning monsters!!!!! hahahaha I know - it's true!!!
I am so glad I could bring everyone along!
